I use a magic ring to start most of the pieces in my patterns, but the Chain 2 mehod (ch2) can also be used – picture instructions for starting a piece using ch2 are below.
1. Attach the yarn to your hook with a slip knot
2. Chain 2
3. Put the number of stitches needed into the 2nd chain from the hook (the 1st chain you made)…
4. You can just stitch over the starting tail
5. If you have a small hole in the middle of your starting ring, turn it over and sew the tail end in – going around the back of the stitches – gently pull it tight
