If I’m adding eyelashes to a toy, I usually do this when I’m putting in the safety eyes (you can add them after the safety eyes are in, but this is difficult because the eye and eye stem get in the way):
1. Insert the safety eyes, but do not fasten them yet. Put pins where you want the eyelashes to end
2. Thread your yarn needle
3. Remove the safety eye and bring the yarn needle up through the hole it was in
4. Pull the yarn through, leaving a tail at the back
5. Remove one of the pins and insert the needle back through the hole, pull the yarn through
6. Pull the needle and yarn back up through the hole where the eye was
7. Remove the second pin and insert the needle back through the hole, pull the yarn through
8. When you’re finished, tie a couple of knots with the two yarn ends inside the piece, trim the yarn ends
9. Put the safety eye back into place
10. Fasten the safety eye
All finished!
